Here’s a couple tips if you work with McAfee Virus Scan Enterprise and EPO. These are just some of the more common things I seem to come across in an enterprise environment.

To reinstall EPO/McAfee:

1. Add/Remove programs > McAfee virus scan (Remove)

2. At the command line type:

C:\Program Files\Network Associates\Common Framework\frminst.exe /forceuninstall

or

C:\Program Files\McAfee\Common Framework\frminst.exe /forceuninstall

3. Reboot PC

4. Reinstall EPO agent

Sometimes, deleting the workstation from EPO Manager before reinstallation, clears up issues as well.

Manual Agent Wakeup Call
(Works well after a fresh epo install to speed up the process of downloading polices and software)

On the desired PC, go to a command prompt and type:

C:\Program Files\Network Associates\Common Framework\cmdagent /P /E /C

 or

C:\Program Files\McAfee\Common Framework\cmdagent /P /E /C

This will try to force the agent to communicate with the ePO server.

Printing and Virus Scan, especially if citrix is involved.

Too many times I have seen PC printing issues that were fixed by updating Virus Scan to a newer hotfix. This has been the case with VS8.0 and VS8.5. Remember, before digging into printing problems, check the McAfee version on the local PC!
